Slashdot Readers Suggest Chromebook Over Tablet

Slashdot Readers Suggest Chromebook Over Tablet

The geek forum +Slashdot has an "Ask Slashdot" feature, where you can ask the community recommendations on tech. I ran into a question from yesterday where the author asks for help in replacing his mother's dead desktop, 2,500 miles away. The nut question - is a tablet good enough?

The answers throughout the post may surprise most, but not me...

Chrome Is Fast. That's Why You Need Chromercise.

Chrome Is Fast. That's Why You Need Chromercise.

If you're a +Google Chrome user like me, you've probably gotten used to incredible speed. As with any other dramatic change to one's lifestyle, one must be adequately prepared. Thank goodness there's Chromercise (http://chromercise.com/). These finger sweatbands mean that I can browse more webpages, read all your posts, and simply get the web faster, without risking nasty finger sweat.

And don't think I'm the only one who has Chromercise fever. See this YouTube video: Everybody Chromercise and the original blog post from April 1, 2011: http://goo.gl/2ICeV

Christmas Flashback: 1977, 8 Months Old, Immersed

Christmas Flashback: 1977, 8 Months Old, Immersed

+Travis Wise posted a fun picture of him at a much earlier age in Santa's lap in the 1980s. I thought I'd dial the wayback machine to December of 1977, before I was even a year old. This photo was taken and scanned by my mom (+Terrie Gray), and all my photos are on Google Drive, which makes it super easy to share, even if we never would have thought then of the technology we have today. Imagine how we'll share photos 35 years into the future... and start making those things on your Christmas wish list now.
